Monday night’s TCM Party AT 9:30 p.m. Eastern | 6:30 p.m. Pacific is ISLAND IN THE SKY (1953) starring John Wayne as Captain Dooley, the pilot of a plane that crashes “so far north that the area is barely on the map.” He’s in charge of the stranded crew, which has very limited provisions, only a wood fire for heat and barely any juice for the radio signal. CASABLANCA (1942)
This is one of those films that never gets old. Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) left Rick (Humphrey Bogart) at a train station in Paris as the Nazis took over. Rick got on the train anyway and runs a bar in Casablanca. Now Ilsa turns up at the bar, with her husband, Resistance fighter Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), looking for letters of transit. Rick has the letters, she’s still in love with him, and he with her. But what about the cause….the one Rick professes to care nothing about? Directed by Michael Curtiz, with Claude Rains, Dooley Wilson, and S.Z. “Cuddles” Sakall. With guest host Citizen Screen.
